Top 5 things to do in the Canary Islands with kids

When you’re looking for family-friendly destinations, the Canary Islands are perfect. These stunning islands might be known for their beaches and beautiful scenery but they’re filled with activities for all ages and we promise the kids will be entertained. From energetic toddlers to inquisitive children and thrill seeking teens, you’ll find something you want to do among these top five things to do on a family holiday.

Waterparks

Who doesn’t love to visit a waterpark when they’re on holiday? You can sit by the water and relax or when the mood takes you take a plunge down a rapid slide.

The sun of the Canary Islands means waterparks are scattered across them, from Tenerife’s Siam Park, which has been touted as one of the best in the world, to the saltwater pools of Costa Martianez, there’s something suitable for every age group, including shallow pools filled with inflatable toys to slides suitable for only the bravest.

Beaches

There’s no denying that the Canary Islands have some of the most impressive braches in the world. Filled with wonder and the sand and sea to play in, beaches are the ideal spot to head to with children.

There are so many beaches you can really pick one that suits your children, from one that’s less crowded, giving them plenty of space to run around, to those that boast excellent conditions for trying your hand at a new watersport. Fuerteventura even has a beach filled with black sand – it’s strange and enchanting in equal measure.

Renting one of our luxury villas in the Canary Islands, you can enjoy a dive in the pool in the morning and choose one of the gorgeous beaches in the afternoon.

Science museum

Sometimes the mercury rises to hot to spend the whole day outdoors. Luckily, there are plenty of indoor entertainment options too, including the science museum in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria.

Filled with interactive exhibits and an observatory to gaze at the stars, your little ones will be filled with wonder learning about space, time, and the universe.

Adventure parks

Kids, teens, and adults alike will love being daredevils at a theme park. Among those on the Canary Islands is Holiday World in Maspalomas, Gran Canaria. It’s filled with rides to push your bravery to the limit and will easily fill a whole day with plenty of fun and family laughter.

For the faint hearted and younger children, there’s something for them too. Designed with kids and families on mind, the adventure parks of the Canary Islands are a great place to let them loose.

Zoos

The islands are teeming with native wildlife and stunning protected zones but you’re looking for something that’s exotic or ferocious, it’s time to head to the zoos.  From feeding an extremely tall giraffe to playing cowboy or girl, the zoos are packed with entertainment.

Once you enter the zoo, your entire day will be taken care of as you explore the exhibits, head to animal talks, and make time for charming shows. There are three zoos to choose from – Oasis Park in Fuerteventura, Sioux City Park in Gran Canaria, and Rancho Texas in Lanzarote.
