Most Romantic Places in Puglia

You only get one honeymoon, so we know you’ll want to make it special. Of course you could choose the allure of the Caribbean or the draw of the Maldives, but if lying on a beach all day isn’t for you, then renting a luxury villa in Puglia could provide the perfect romantic holiday destination.

Why Puglia is the perfect spot for a romantic holiday?

A firm favourite with the rich and famous, Puglia has developed a sterling reputation for providing a lavish background for romantic getaways – with honeymoons being no exception.

The idyllic location for culture vultures, Puglia offers a balanced mix of fine beaches and clear seas, along with a unique history that cannot be replicated.

The region’s ornate towns offer a peaceful paradise, only surpassed by its stunning architecture, so provide everything a couple in love could possibly want.

So what are the most romantic places in Puglia for honeymooners?

We may be biased, but we think every last inch of Puglia is romantic in one way or another.

Whether you spend your nights on the beach watching the sun go down together, or head off on an adventure to one of the rustic towns for the day, Puglia’s landscape is one of romance.

Alberobello

An UNESCO World Heritage site, Alberobello ticks all the romantic boxes. Full of unusual districts of trulli, the traditional white-washed conical-roofed houses, it makes a unique day-trip destination.

Described as “Like a fairy tale. A happy ending fairy tale.” by Belgian artist, Jean Michel Folòn, its narrow streets peppered with iconic trullis make the place an utterly romantic destination.

Grotta Palazzese Restaurant

For a romantic dinner, you can’t go far wrong with the quirky Grotta Palazzese Restaurant.

Located in Polignano A Mare, the restaurant epitomises romance thanks to its atmospheric candlelight and unique cave setting.

Balancing on the edge of the coastline, the restaurant serves up traditional Italian food that will satisfy even the biggest of appetites. And all this while providing a unique setting that’s ideal for honeymooners still in the whirlwind of romance.

Arco delle Meraviglie, Bari

The quaint town of Bari is awash with ancient buildings and intricate design. The setting of one of the most romantic tales on the planet, legend has it that it was the home of the southern Romeo and Juliet (but without the tragic ending).

Most famous for its Arco Meraviglia, the bridge that was built to connect the star-crossed lovers with one another. It takes the name of Arco Wonder while the boy’s family built it.

Instrumental in helping the couple to live happily ever after, the tale is as old as time. Of course the bridge could also have been built by the Maraviglia family in the 1500s to connect their two medieval houses together, not for a romantic holiday. But we prefer the first story.

White Cave, Castellana Cave

The Grotte di Castellana are one of the most striking attractions of Puglia.

A natural heritage site that attracts thousands of visitors every year, the caves are located just a few kilometres from aforementioned Trulli village of Alberobello, as well as the charming towns of Cisternino and Polignano a Mare.

The caves’ sheer beauty and unique shape provide an awe-inspiring and romantic holiday backdrop. However it’s the White Cave that’s the most glorious of them all. The alabaster surroundings almost glow to create a palatial-like setting for guests.

The ultimate romantic place to reiterate love, the White Cave will only make honeymooners fall more in love with one another – and Puglia.
